Hello May! Concepts for May 2nd

Algebra I

Today we discussed
Today we talked about the Pythagorean theorem and the relationships between the legs of a right triangle and its hypotenuse.  In addition, we worked on simplifying radical expressions using the product and quotient properties of square roots.

Sections Covered in Textbook
1) 12-5: The Pythagorean Theorem (pages 482-486)
2) 12-5: Simplifying Square Roots - Part 1 (pages 492-495)

Video Tutorials

Pre-Algebra

Today we discussed
We reviewed using the percent proportion to solve problems. From there we went though  comparison of fractions, decimals and percents and how to convert numbers among these formats.

January 26th

REMINDER!!!  **No Class on January 31st!!**

Algebra I

Today we discussed
Rational expressions just added another step.  Recalling that whenever we add any types of fractions, rational expressions included, we must have a common denominator.  We'll use our knowledge of factoring and GCF to build common denominators so we can combine these rational numbers.

Sections Covered in Textbook
1) 8-7: Rationals Expressions with Unlike Denominators (pages 329-333)

Video Tutorials
1)  Adding and Subtracting Rational Expressions with Different Denominators

Assignments
1) Complete the mid-chapter review on Page 325 #'s 1-11.  Complete this activity by Tuesday, January 31st at 9:30 AM and turn in electronically to me.  I will correct them and we will discuss during Thursday's class.
2) Pages 332 #'s 13-39 odd

Pre-Algebra

Today we discussed
Today we did a full review of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing rational numbers (fractions).  We focused on the key concepts needed to perform each operation for each type of problem.  Here is a handy summary:

Sections Covered in Textbook
1)  Today was a comprehensive review of fraction operations and we did not discuss any particular sections in the book.

Video Tutorials
Operations with Fractions.
